Flu Vaccinations

Protecting you and your family from flu

We are reminding all of our eligible patients to book their flu vaccination at their GP surgery to help protect themselves and their families from the illness this winter.

We are sending everyone who is eligible for a free vaccination a text message inviting them to book an appointment. If you receive a message, simply click on the unique link and confirm your date of birth. You will then be given a choice of available appointments so that you can pick a time and date which is convenient for you.

You can help by making sure your surgery has your current mobile phone number.

Booking your jab with your GP keeps vital resources in your local NHS, which helps us to continue giving you and your family the best possible care. Please support us by having your vaccine with us.

Who can have the vaccine?

Flu can be dangerous and even life-threatening for some people, particularly those with certain health conditions. That is why it is important for everyone who is invited to have their vaccination.

It is available free on the NHS to adults who:

  • are aged 65 and over (including those who will be 65 by 31 March 2024)
  • have certain long-term health conditions, such as COPD, coronary heart disease or diabetes
  • are pregnant
  • are in long-stay residential care
  • receive a carer’s allowance, or are the main carer for an older or disabled person
  • live with someone who is more likely to get a severe infection due to a weakened immune system, such as someone living with HIV or is having certain treatments for cancer, lupus or rheumatoid arthritis

More information about the vaccine is available on the NHS website.
